45% of Peruvian women claim to receive a lower salary than men, according to the study Gender Perspectives in the World of Work by Bumeran.

Meanwhile, 80% of men assure that there is no difference between salaries.

This scenario is observed at the regional level, considering that Chile is the country where women believe, in greater numbers, that they earn less than men (60%).

Dora Pinedo, head of marketing at Bumeran Perú, maintains that it is no coincidence that men and women perceive salary parity differently.

“This discrepancy reflects an inequality embedded in the structure of our society, as evidenced month after month by our Labor Market Reports, which record a persistent wage gap. Given this reality, it is encouraging to see how almost half of the participants in the study point to the implementation of policies to promote equality within organizations,” he noted.

On the other hand, 33% of talent recruiters say that they consider sex in their selection processes, while the remaining 68% believe that it is not a determining factor.
