He Unitary Union of Workers of Pluspetrol Perú Corporation (Sutrappec) announced the start of a indefinite general strike starting March 13, 2024having not reached no agreement with the company on the list of claims which they presented 8 months ago.
As reported the general secretary of Sutrappec, José Huallpaamong the workers who will abide by the strike are those who work in the Malvinas plants (Cusco) and Pisco (Ica), where gas and gas liquid separation processes are carried out, as well as the fractionation of natural gas liquids.
Also, he stated that The union’s decision has already been informed to the company and to the Directorate of Prevention and Resolution of Labor Conflicts of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion.. In addition, the legal notice periods established by the regulations were respected, that is, 10 business days.
“We have announced that the start of the strike will be on March 13 at the Pisco and Malvinas plants, and will continue until the company addresses the workers’ fair demands. “It is inadmissible to accept salary conditions that would mean leaving 40% of workers without increases, or conditioning the increase to unilateral evaluations.”said the leader.
Likewise, he added that this is a situation that contrasts with the profits that the company obtained in 2022 and 2023, which is why he urged Pluspetrol executives to rethink their position, the same as has pushed employees to start a strike that would put the gas supply for transport and industry at risk.
José Huallpa also mentioned that Pluspetrol has informed the union of the completion of the conciliation process in the Ministry of Labor and the beginning of optional arbitration.
In this sense, labor lawyer Fernando Varela Bohórquez, former Minister of Labor, was appointed as arbitrator representing the company.
