The Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) ratified a fine of S/1 million 606,275 (324.5 UIT of 2023) against the company Telefónica del Perú.
The resolution of the Board of Directors 00036-2024-CD/OSIPTEL details how in March 2023 the Osiptel Supervision and Instruction Directorate notified Telefónica of the initiation of an administrative sanctioning procedure (PAS) for the commission of four violations of the quality regulation, incurred during the first half of 2022 in the cities of Huánuco, Puerto Callao, Chota and Trujillo.
In November of that same year, Osiptel decided to sanction the Spanish-owned company with four fines for a total of 324.5 UIT and, a month later, it presented its appeal, now declared “unfounded.”
“The administrative sanctioning procedure (PAS) was initiated due to non-compliance with the objective value (VO) of the CVM indicator corresponding to the fixed Internet access service, in the CCPPs of Huánuco, Puerto Callao, Chota and Trujillo; however, to date of issuance of this document, the operating company has not presented evidence that could refute the accusations made by the investigating body,” reads the ruling.
