This financial support is equivalent to S/820 and is provided only once for each baby, as long as the insured person still has a valid contract on the date of delivery.
What are the requirements to access the EsSalud breastfeeding bonus?
- The newborn must be the child of an insured person (male or female) of EsSalud. If you are the wife of an insured, you will have to be registered as an insured.
- Regular insured: They must have three consecutive months of contributions or four non-consecutive months within the six months prior to the month of delivery.
- Agricultural policyholders: They must have three consecutive months of contributions or four non-consecutive months in the last 12 months prior to the month of delivery.
- Have an employment relationship at the time of birth.
- The nursing baby must be registered as the insured’s beneficiary.
- If the infant dies, posthumous registration must be carried out.

What is the deadline to request the breastfeeding bonus?
To request this subsidy you will have a period of 98 days plus six months, counting from the date of birth of the baby. In the case of multiple births, 30 days are added to this period.
Some recommendations that you should take into account if you are going to request the breastfeeding bonus are:
- If the mother of the infant is a minor and unmarried, the subsidy will be paid through your father, mother or guardian, for which you must present a copy and show the original of the document that accredits you as father, mother or guardian. In the absence of these three people, the insured will be paid directly.
- If the mother is declared incapablethe court ruling must be presented that accredits your guardian, who will receive the subsidy.
- If the infant’s mother has died, the father or guardian must present the mother’s original death certificate or certificate; and a document proving guardianship of the minor.
- In case that the minor is in a state of abandonmenta document must be presented that proves the guardianship of the infant.
