Rómulo Mucho Mamani, the new Minister of Energy and Mines, assured that his administration does not have in mind dismantling Petroperú and, on the contrary, they will work to take advantage of its presence in the market.
“We do not want Petroperú to cease to exist. We will have to make structural and profound changes to make it a profitable company,” he told RPP.
Regarding the financial rescue of Petroperú, Mucho pointed out that “common sense forces you to evaluate” your situation and, therefore, you must know all the details.
The head of Minem announced that first they will see the real situation of the state company, after which he will issue his opinion. “We need the company to make a profit,” he said.

After modifying the composition of the General Meeting of Shareholders-AGM of Petroperú – in which more weight was given to the Ministry of Economy and Finance – Mucho Mamani indicated that they will study the effects of the change in the shareholding. “We have to make Petroperú win. I am not personally against a company not being managed by the State,” he added.
