After the last session of the Council of Ministers, the head of the MEF, Alex Contrerasassured that the Peruvian economy has been recovering so far in 2024.
“The data for January and the preliminary data for February indicate that the Peruvian economy has entered a phase of expansion,” he told the press.
Contreras Miranda stressed that GDP growth of 3% is expected for this year, and alleged that “the implemented plans” are “bearing fruit.”
He pointed out that there is a 3.4% rebound in Government income and imports of capital goods. Likewise, he indicated that there are “record rates” in public investment, which will fuel the reactivation.
“We will continue to hit the reactivation with a punch, with honesty, honesty and serious work. The government plans, the work of the sectors are being reflected in the good start of 2024,” Contreras wrote in X, after highlighting that in January sales Electronics grew 12.1% in real terms and the sectors where there was the greatest impact were construction, services and commerce.
