In 2023, Yape launched a new feature to simplify receiving money from abroad quickly and easily. With this addition to its existing services, the popular digital payments application continues to be a very attractive option for its millions of users in our country.
Furthermore, not only adults can take advantage of Yape to carry out financial transactions. Parents also have the option of opening an account for their minor children in this Banco de Crédito application.
Yape for minors: how do I create an account for my child?
If you are a father or mother and want to open a Yape account for your minor children, you can do so from a cell phone other than yours. However, it is important to talk to your children about the use of money and passwords, since you will be responsible for financial transactions. Keep in mind that the minor’s data will be protected, but when making transactions, your data will be displayed. Here we explain the three necessary steps:
- Registration with DNI, without card: download the Yape application on the new cell phone and choose “only with your DNI” as the affiliation method. Register your own data, not the minor’s. Remember that you can only have a Yape account with an ID (without a card) in your name. If you already have such an account, you can create a BCP account to link it to your additional Yape account.
- Joint account with your children: download the application on the new cell phone and create the account, registering your data as the owner of the joint account.
- Additional BCP account: download Yape on the additional cell phone and register the account using your details as the debit card holder. If you do not have a BCP account, you will need to create a new one.
Yape for those under 18 years of age: what do you need?
The only thing you need to open a Yape account for your minor children is to use a new cell phone number (your children’s) and a different email than the one you are using in your personal account.
How to register on Yape?
- Download the Yape application on your mobile phone and choose the ‘Create account’ option.
- Enter your phone number and verify the code you will receive.
- Enter your ID number and your email address.
- Choose a 6-digit password that you will use to log in in the future.
- Select the registration method you prefer: only with your ID, using a BCP debit card, or using a card from another bank or financial institution.
- Finish the process by validating your identity, answering security questions and selecting ‘Continue’.
