The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) granted the approval to the Ferrocarril del Norte Consortium to develop the pre-investment study at the profile level of the Lima-Barranca Railway project.

The day before, the head of the MTC, Raúl Pérez-Reyes, announced that the preparation of this profile would take a year and a half, and after that, they will go through the technical file and the execution of the work.

According to the MTC, the railway will be key to interconnect Barranca, Supe, Huaral, Chancay and Ancón, as well as the megaport of Chancay and the port of Callao. In addition, it will promote new areas of urban development, production, logistics and services.

The area of ​​direct influence will be 245 km and will directly benefit 4 million 575,230 citizens; and As it passes through Metropolitan Lima and Callao, it will have an interchange with mass passenger transportation systems such as the Basic Network of the Lima and Callao Metro, and the Metropolitan.
