The president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vásquez, reported this afternoon that the dialogue process with the mining company Las Bambas has receded. This was after it was revealed that the company sent a letter to his office announcing that it will not participate in the negotiations with the communities involved in the mining conflict.
“The dialogue has probably regressed and has become trapped with the company, but we as a State continue to dialogue with the community,” said the prime minister during an interview on the program Save yourselves who can.
Las Bambas refuses to dialogue
The manager of Corporate Affairs and Business Development of Las Bambas, Carlos Castro Silvestre, informed the Prime Minister that he will not participate in the next spaces for dialogue with the communities that keep the Southern Mining Corridor blocked.
The document, dated December 16, indicates that the company’s decision will remain until it can conclude agreements that are viable and verifiable within the area of influence of its operations.
In the letter, they also remember that MMG announced during the week the suspension of its operations for this Saturday, December 18, due to the continuous restrictions on input and output logistics.
