Potato supply has doubled this week in Lima: prices should accelerate

Today the supply of food to wholesale markets exceeded 8,000 tons, while the supply of potatoes grew by more than 95.9%, while the supply of fruits and other vegetables became available to merchants and housewives, according to reports. the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

Regarding the total supply of vegetables and fruits to the main wholesale supply markets, the entry of 8,318 tons was reported, adding the reports from the Great Wholesale Market of Lima (GMML) and the Fruit Market No. 2 of La Victoria.

In the case of the GMML, the entry of 6,002 tons of products was recorded, including legumes, vegetables and tubers, a volume 66% higher compared to the last four Mondays.

The entry of 771 tons of potatoes and their varieties was reported, a figure 95.9% higher than the last four Mondays. In addition, stocks are at optimal levels for most products.

While in the Fruit Market No. 2 of La Victoria, the entry of 2,316 tons of different fruits was recorded, a volume greater by 28.2% compared to the last four Mondays.

Likewise, the price of wholesale chicken was sold today between S/6.50 and S/ 6.30 per kilogram in the live bird distribution centers of the capital, while the wholesale price of eggs remains at an average price between S/ /6.60 and S/5.80 soles per kilogram.

The main wholesale offers this morning were: carrot at S/0.42 kilogram; yellow sweet potato S/0.63 per kilogram; yellow cassava at S/0.90 kilogram; purple sweet potato at S/0.93 per kilogram; green bean at S/0.93 kilogram; red head onion at S/0.95 kilogram; Yungay potato at S/1.05 kilogram; potato canchan at S/1.19 kilogram; macre squash at S/1.25 kilogram; katia tomato at S/1.53 kilogram; lemon in a bag at S/1.58 per kilogram, among others.

Today’s main offers are: watermelon at S/0.78 kilogram; Valencia orange at S/0.92 kilogram; Israeli apple S/0.98; ordinary apple at S/1.01 kilogram; coquito melon at S/1.15 kilogram; Creole pineapple at S/1.33 kilogram; banana cake at S/1.36 kilogram; Creole avocado at S/1.54 kilogram; papaya at S/1.75 kilogram; red globe grape at S/1.96 kilogram, among others.
