The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), through Supreme Resolution No. 002-2024-EF, appointed Mr. Rodolfo Baca Gómez Sánchez as Vice Minister of Finance, who replaces José Carlos Chávez Accounts, who was thanked for services rendered.
Baca’s arrival to the Executive comes after the abrupt departure of José Carlos Chávez Cuentas, who had been in office since December 2022, and just a week after Minister Alex Contreras’ threatened resignation.
Rodolfo Baca had been serving as General Director of the General Directorate of Public Treasury of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Likewise, he has been General Director of the Risk Management Office of the Pension Normalization Office (ONP) and the Consolidated Fund of Pension Reserves (FCR).
He has more than 19 years of experience in financial issues and financial risk management, in the sectors of pension funds, insurance companies, financial regulation and auditing. He also worked for 4 years for the Superintendence of Banking and Insurance.
He has a master’s degree in International Financial Law (LLM) from King’s College London in the UK and a master’s degree in Government and Public Policy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
In addition, he has a degree in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and a Public Accountant from the National University of San Antonio Abad del Cusco (UNSAAC). Mr. Baca is a former student of the historic Extension Course of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru.
