Mypes ask for the departure of Minister Alex Contreras for negligence and “taking the country into recession”

At the national level, the mypes are dissatisfied with Dina Boluarte’s management and demand the replacement of all her ministerial pieces: from Alberto Otárola to the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contreras.

“First, because his only achievement has been to lead the country into recession. The minister (Alex Contreras) has not shown efficient measures to get out of it. He has sold us lies,” commented Susana Saldaña, president of the Gamarra Peru Association to URPI. -LR.

According to Saldaña, among the MEF’s most serious errors is the denaturalization of Impulso Myperú, which to date has auctioned S/4.5 billion to financial entities but nothing has reached the mypes.

Minister of Economy: The adjustment of the minimum wage will occur when the economy begins to grow

“Only today (Minister Contreras) has recognized that the banks do what they want with the program and prioritize their clients. We warned that in February 2023 and he did not want to listen to us. S/10 billion is missing in Impulso Myperú and he says that they will come to the mypes but we no longer believe them,” he said.

They criticize that the promised one million school kits have not been purchased nor that in more than a year of government, a single amount of state purchases from MSEs have not yet been carried out. Here they also blame the neglect of former Production Minister Raúl Pérez-Reyes—now in the MTC—and Minister Ana María Choquehuanca.

Where should the reactivation aim?

According to the mypes, to get out of the recession the MEF has to energize this sector through a real program of cheap loans for, at least, S/10,000 million placed as new loans to producers.

As well as direct purchases via Executing Nuclei for producing mypes for 40% of the State’s total demand – for S/15,000 million – and implementing commercial defenses against unfair competition: informality, dumping, undervaluation and smuggling.
