Minister Alex Contreras recognizes the departure of his vice ministers: “Yes, we are going to make changes”

Within the framework of the installation of the Executive Board for the Development of Renewable Energies, The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras, was consulted about his permanence as head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) one day after presenting his resignation and surprised by pointing out that some changes will be made within the entity.

“Yes, indeed, we are evaluating. The beginning of the year is a period for changes and, in the case of the MEF, we are going to make changes,” Contreras revealed.

Regarding his threat to resign from office, Contreras Miranda indicated that he had no intention of doing so, although he told La Republica that he would leave the MEF “Petroperú and the lack of transparency in some decisions.”

“Due to the nature of the position, one has to resign from the first day he or she is exercising the function as a minister, because they are positions of trust. Along these lines, we have had an important conversation with the president (Boluarte). In the end, the president has the power to make the appropriate decision,” she asserted.

Likewise, he reiterated the challenges faced by the Economy Ministry in light of the situation facing the country.

“This year we need to recover the economy, there are much better numbers in November, but we still have to continue thinking about how to make the economy grow again (…). Today is an important step within the framework of the United Plan; “We must not neglect long-term issues, beyond the current situation,” he expressed.

The officials who will leave their positions according to Contreras Miranda’s pronouncement are José Carlos Chávez Accounts who is the current vice minister of finance and Zósimo Juan Pichihua Serna who serves as Vice Minister of Economy.
