Average income decreased by S / 179 since 2019

During the September, October and November quarter, 4 million 812,800 people made up the employed population in Metropolitan Lima. However, compared to the same period in 2019, a contraction of 149,000 jobs is observed, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

In this sense, the average income in the quarter is located at S / 1,588.30 and represents a decrease of S / 179.10 compared to 2019 (see infographic).

This collapse affects the quality of life, considering that in the previous quarter (August, September and October), the average household income was S / 2,470, a figure much lower than the S / 3,036 in the same period of 2019. According to the INEI, from September to November of this year compared to the year prior to the pandemic, the wage bill had a negative variation of 13.6%, now standing at S / 7,524 (S / 8,648 in 2019).


Finally, the employed population with adequate work decreased 20.8%, equivalent to 671,100 people compared to 2019.
