Reduction of seven days in the transfer of ships from China to South America is planned on the new route that the Asian country opened last Tuesday.
Local portal Global Times announced that it is the first ocean container trunk line in South America with the port of Dalian, northeast of China.
The trade agreement between Ecuador and China has already started the process in the International Relations Commission
China has become a trading partner for several countries in the region, and even a major destination for products, creating steady trade.
It is specified that the route will help countries like Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador, and currently the transfer takes 32 days and can be done on the 25th.
This will benefit products that depend on the cold chain such as fruit and fish.
The portal also states that a direct route with the region was opened on December 21, which will be covered by ten ships that will carry between 3,500 and 4,500 containers each, and will transport shrimp, meat, fruit, wines and grains from South America. The case of China will be glass, steel and even cars.
The treatment of the trade agreement signed with China is entering the final stage in the International Relations Commission
On May 10, 2023, then-President Guillermo Lasso signed a trade agreement with China, which the Court declared constitutional. It is being discussed in the National Assembly, more precisely in the Committee for International Relations and Mobility of People.
The National Assembly is the last filter in the country that this agreement lacks before it can enter into force. Neighboring countries such as Chile and Peru have already established trade agreements with China in 2005 and 2009, respectively, while Ecuador only started the process of becoming a trading partner of the aforementioned country in 2022.
