Learn how to access virtually and without queues the subsidy that EsSalud grants, for breastfeeding, to mothers.
In Peru, the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) offers important financial support to mothers who have just given birth: it provides them with a breastfeeding bonus of S/820. This initiative seeks to alleviate financial burdens so that parents can dedicate time and resources to raising and caring for their children at a crucial stage of their development.
It is important to highlight that, although the payment of this bonus is one-time, the amount increases in the case of multiple births. For example, if the mother gives birth to two children, she will receive double the money; that is, S/1,640.
Requirements to access the breastfeeding bonus
To access the EsSalud breastfeeding bonus, it is essential to meet these simple requirements:
- Have a minimum contribution to EsSalud: you must have paid at least three consecutive months or four non-consecutive months in the six months prior to the birth.
- Have an employment relationship at the time of the birth of the child, who must be registered with Reniec.

- Go to any insurance and financial benefits office.
- Present your ID and form No. 1040, duly completed and signed.
- If it is the first procedure you carry out, you must sign the privacy policy for the processing of personal data.
- With your stamped form No. 1040 and a copy of your ID, go to the authorized banks and collect your subsidy.
