They want people with disabilities to have a 50% discount on air tickets

Congresswoman Hilda Portero López, from Popular Actionproposes that all people with disabilities, accredited by the National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (Conadis), access a 50% discount on air tickets from public or private transport companies for national or international flights. In our country there are 3 million 209,261 people with disabilities, which represents 10.3% of the population, according to the 2017 Census.

In this way, bill 6736 seeks to modify Law 27261 (Civil Aeronautics Law) to incorporate a subsection that specifies this benefit for people with disabilities. In addition, it specifies that, if you travel with a companion, the discount must be extended.

The initiative points out that people with disabilities in Peru suffer different types of discrimination that do not allow their development in society, and, On the contrary, it increases social gaps in this sector.

On the other hand, they maintain that the companies that provide air transportation services, despite having adapted and made themselves more flexible to different markets, still do not offer an optimal service to people with disabilities, so if this standard were approved They would have the opportunity to do so.

“It is necessary to implement a series of improvements that make air transportation more accessible to people with disabilities, both economically and physically and morally, establishing as a priority the improvement in the training of company personnel with people with disabilities. disability, so that in addition to providing a good service with social return, it also manages to create added value to the image of the company and its relationship with the environment”, is set out in the document.
