Hand in hand with inflation. The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that education in Peru, in 2023, was 6.4% more expensive than in 2022. However, if we disaggregate only school education, the levels rose more than 10 %, on average.
The prices of the teaching secondary were the most critical, with a progress of 10.7%. This increase was explained by the increase in non-state secondary enrollment (17.5%) and the non-state secondary education pension (10.4%).
Refering to preschool and primary education, the inflationary advance was 10.3%, supported by an increase in the prices of primary (18%) and initial (13.5%) non-state tuition; as well as the non-state education pension for initial (10.3%) and primary (10.1%).
Refering to post-secondary non-tertiary education, progress was 4%. The productive technical education pension increased by 4.2%; while tertiary education did the same with a growth of 3.9%.
Regarding spending on the enrollment process: the advance for non-state higher institutes was 12.2%; in non-state undergraduate universities, it was 8.3%.
Finally, INEI reported that the pension in non-state higher institutes grew on average 9.4% in 2023, while the increase in pensions in non-state undergraduate universities was 2.4%.
