Yesterday, the Government made official the new value of the Tax Tax Unit (UIT) for 2024: S/5,150, according to supreme decree No. 309-2023-EF. In this way, it increases by S/200, since during the current year it stood at S/4,950.

The ITU, which is used as a reference to calculate taxes, fines, determine accounting obligations, among others, It is updated every year taking into account a series of macroeconomic elementsmainly the variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the year, so it is normal that it has an upward trend.

Labor implications

Among the main labor effects is that the range of Income Tax (IR) exemption will be expanded, which will mean savings for workers, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).

In detail, it is stated that dependent workers, from whom the Fifth Category IR is withheld, during 2024 will not pay this tax, as long as their annual income does not exceed 7 UIT, that is, S/36,050 per year (without considering the 3 additional ITU for admitted expenses).
