The number of Peruvian export companies reached 7,836 between January and October of this year, reflecting a slight increase of 2.4% compared to the same period last year (7,651), reported the Global Economy and Business Research Center of the CIEN-ADEX Exporters Association.

In these 10 months, microenterprises (4,673) represented 59.6% of the total, small (2,567) 32.8%, medium (132) 1.7% and large (464) 5.9%. , with which micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) concentrated 94.1% of all export units.

In terms of US$ FOB, it was observed that 94.6% of what was shipped abroad was carried out by large companies, followed by small (3.7%), medium (1.3%) and microenterprises (0.4%). %).

“Although micro and small companies (mypes) represented 92.4% of the total number of companies, they only accounted for 4.1% of the exported value, demonstrating a high level of atomization and putting their permanence abroad at risk,” the report indicated. .

The increase in the US$ FOB amount of shipments from medium-sized companies (38.3%), micro (16.8%) and small companies (13.6%) must be specified. The large ones, for their part, registered a decline (-1%).

The number of traditional exporting companies reported a marked evolution both in October (31.8%) and between January and October (12.9%), registering a new historical maximum (1,204). For their part, those with added value (10,007 until October) did not reach their historic 2012 level (10,170).

At the market level, 55.8% of the total (4,370) exported to only one and 5.4% (425) to 10 or more. In this context, the leading company by number of companies was the US (2,290), followed by Chile (1,854) and Ecuador (1,323). He highlighted the increase in those that ship to the United Arab Emirates (43.5%).

If only those that have a single product and a single destination are considered, the number was 2,670, which represented 34.1% of the total. These are the most sensitive to possible changes in trade policies due to their low diversification of products and destinations. In this group, 75.5% were microenterprises, followed by small (20.1%), large (2.8%) and medium-sized (1.6%).
