More than 1,500 100-year-old retirees receive a pension in the ONP

The Pension Normalization Office (ONP) reported that currently More than 1,500 retirees over 100 years old receive a monthly pension.

According to the institution, the amount they receive is varied, since it depends on the year in which the retirement pension was granted and the laws that were in force.

Of the more than 1,500 centenarian pensioners throughout the country, 68% are in Lima and Callao, while the remaining 32% are in the interior of the country. Likewise, 62% of retired 100 years old and older are women and 38% are men.

It is worth mentioning that centenarian pensioners receive a grocery basket with non-perishable food on their birthday and at Christmas.

It is in that framework that the ONP invited Emilia Lira Flores de García, 100 years old (Arequipa), Leoncio Bueno Barrantes, 101 years old (La Libertad) and Pedro José Pinedo Chávez, 102 years old (Cajamarca), who received recognition from the Executive Branch, through the Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Nancy Tolentino Gamarra, and the head of the ONP, Victorhugo Montoya.

Long term benefit

The greatest virtue that the SNP is that if one manages to contribute at least 20 years during their working period, they are guaranteed a minimum pension of S/500 for life, which differentiates it from the private system, in which a pension is only granted until the accumulated individual fund is finished.
