Downhill. INEI confirmed this Friday that the October GDP registered a decrease of 0.82% due to the lower performance of the Construction, Financial, Agricultural, Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Services Provided to Businesses and Accommodation and Restaurants sectors.
In the tenth month of 2023, national production was leveraged by a greater increase in activities in the Mining and Hydrocarbons, Commerce, Fishing, Electricity, Gas and Water, Transportation and Other services sectors.
In this way, national production in the period January-October 2023 decreased by 0.65% and, during the last twelve months, November 2022-October 2023, it registered a variation of -0.27%.
According to the institute, the development of the country’s productive activity was affected by the coastal El Niño Alert status, which interrupted the normal development of primary sectors of the economy such as agriculture, and transformation sectors such as construction and manufacturing.
At the same time, there was a recurrence of socio-environmental conflicts and technical and climate change factors, which caused temporary suspensions in productive activities.
It should be noted that the seasonally adjusted index of national production for October 2023 registered a variation of 0.08%, compared to the immediately previous month.
