If I have been working for a month, am I eligible to receive the Christmas bonus?

The Christmas and New Year holidays are almost here, and with it, the payment of the last bonus of the year is also approaching. This deposit is expected by all private sector workers to make Christmas purchases, pay off debts or cover any expenses.

However, there are many who have just joined their workplace and have doubts about whether they can access this benefit if they have only worked for one month. Therefore, we explain how much you could receive if this is your case.

Should I be paid a bonus if I worked for a month?

If a person has not been working in the company for a long time, only one month, they will not receive the full bonus, but only 1/6 of the remuneration that can be computed for the time worked.

For example, if you started working on December 1 and receive a salary of S/1,025, and you do not receive a family allowance, you can receive a bonus of S/186.21.

Who gets the reward?

The people who are entitled to this benefit are private sector workers with an indefinite, fixed-term or part-time contract; Those who are working for a public institution can also access it, but under a private regime.

In the case of small businesses, after they register in the National Registry of Micro and Small Businesses (Remype), their hired personnel may receive half of the bonus.

How much is the bonus?

The Bonus Law No. 27735 states that the bonus is a full salary for those who have worked the entire previous semester. This benefit is not subject to any discount such as AFP or income tax, rather an extraordinary 9% bonus is granted for those who belong to EsSalud and 6.75% for EPS.
