“Wide monitoring” in the strike day called by ELA and LAB in the residences of Bizkaia

ELA and LAB have denounced 100% minimum services that “violate” the right to strike of female workers. Both unions have shown their intention to carry out new mobilizations.

The workers of the residences of Bizkaia have been called this Tuesday to a day of strike that according to the ELA union is registering “extensive monitoring”. The mobilization has been called independently by the ELA and LAB unions to demand an improvement in their working conditions and request an expansion of the workforce.

ELA has highlighted the “broad monitoring” of the strike, despite minimal services that it considers “abusive.” In total, around 5,000 women workers are called on strike.

The LAB union, for its part, has denounced 100% services that have “violated the right to strike.” “They steal our rights, they make us invisible, they do not recognize us as negotiating partners and now they steal our right to strike by imposing a minimum of 100% services on us,” he highlighted.

ELA gathered at 11:30 am in front of the Palace of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. In that mobilization they have distributed the “letters of precarity” to the provincial leaders.

LAB, for its part, gathered at 10:30 am in front of the headquarters of the General Meetings of Bizkaia.

ELA denounced on November 30 that, after a year and a half of meetings, no steps have been taken in the negotiation of the Bizkaia residences agreement and that the employers’ associations and the Biscay council “continue to bet on a negotiation without content.”

In the negotiation of the agreement they demand questions like that the workers are replaced from day one, have full-time contracts or the salary and working conditions are equated to IFAS, which the employer does not want to face.

On the other hand, ELA considers that the Provincial Council “continues with its institutional propaganda, but the reality today is that layoffs, privatization of services, lack of personnel and part-time contracts, among others, are the a trigger for the lack of quality of care and the workloads suffered by women workers in the sector “.

The LAB union has also joined the call to fight for the equalization of working conditions with public workers and demand human ratios, in addition to emphasizing that, for the union, “the final solution to this conflict is through the publication of the elderly care service.”

And it is that, for LAB, the Provincial Council imposes privatization of the care of the elderly and is the main person in charge of what is being lived in the residences in Bizkaia “.
