Article 117 of the Labor Code indicates that the State, through the National Salary Council, will annually establish the unified basic salary or salary for private workers. Article 118 states that if this Council does not adopt a resolution by consensus, a new one will be convened and if this does not reach consensus, the Minister of Labor will set the percentage of increase “equivalent to the projected consumer price index, established by the public entity authorized for this purpose ”.
The president issued Decree 286 where he ordered the Minister of Labor to put into consideration by the Council the setting of the basic salary of $ 425 per month as of January 1, 2022.
