Natural gas: 74 Red Corridor buses will be converted to CNG

A total of 74 buses of the so-called Red corridor, which crosses Javier Prado avenue and connects the districts of Ate and San Miguel, will be converted to vehicular natural gas (CNG) through the program Ahorro CNG, which will finance said process, reported the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

The program, which is part of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (sheets), finances the change of engine from a heavy vehicle to diesel for one to CNG with EURO V technology or higher, which also ensures greater efficiency in the use of the country’s main energy resource.

In November of this year, the company Allin Group – Javier Prado SAC (operator of the Red corridor), through the program, completed the conversion of the first eight public transport buses on Route 206, which carry approximately 550 passengers per day and travel approximately 84 kilometers per day.

In a next stage, Ahorro CNG will finance the conversion of a group of 30 buses of the Red Corridor and, subsequently, a fleet of 74 units will be completed to CNG that will allow the company to provide a modern, sustainable and high quality urban transport service.

The General Directorate of Hydrocarbons (DGH), entity attached to Minem, calculates that the fleet of 74 buses to CNGEach year, it will provide the Allin Group company with savings of more than S / 984 thousand per year and will transport 13.67 million people.

The repayment of the financing is carried out, easily and progressively, through reduced payments that are added in the NGV recharges. The program contemplates the repayment in a period of five years and grants a grace period of two months to initiate the collection.

The DGH highlighted that Ahorro CNG It is aimed at companies and individuals in the transportation sector who wish to access a more economical and sustainable fuel, which will provide greater profitability to their operations.

The program, which does not include interest or an initial fee, is part of the government’s new policy to massify and intensify the use of natural gas and bring its benefits to more Peruvian families.

Finally, the DGH affirmed that vehicular natural gas is the best automotive fuel alternative that exists in the country because it reduces the emission of polluting gases, such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, among others.
