Produce: 4 out of every 10 mypes are led by women

The Ministry of Production (Produces), within the framework of International Day of Entrepreneurial Womenwhich is celebrated every November 19, reported that in Peru there are 1 million 341,851 entrepreneurial women who lead businesses.

The ministry specified that women entrepreneurs represent 41.9% of all entrepreneurs in the country; That is, 4 out of every 10 workers who have started their own company are female.

Furthermore, he indicated that, in the last five years (2018-2022), the number of female entrepreneurs increased by more than 81,000 entrepreneurs, according to the National Household Survey (ENAHO).

Mypes led by women are present throughout the country; in Lima is home to 17.5% of female entrepreneurs, followed by the regions Puno (10.0%), Piura (7.1%), Cusco (6.3%), La Libertad (5.7%) and Junín (5.5%).

What are the main sectors led by women entrepreneurs?

Regarding the field to which the entrepreneurs are dedicated, they mainly concentrate on tertiary activities, such as trade (38.8%) and the sector agricultural (30.5%), as well as in services (24.2%) and manufacture (6.2%).

According to Produce, the average age of women mypes drivers in Peru is 49 years old. Meanwhile, primary and secondary educational levels continue to be the most common among owners and employers, and account for 74.9% (1 million,005,286) of female drivers in the sector.

Fair for women in Miraflores

Within the framework of the celebrations for the International Day of Entrepreneurial Women, clothing, cosmetics, jewelry and more products made by micro and small businesses are offered until November 26 at the Perú Produce Mujer Fair, organized by Produce, in alliance with the District Municipality of Miraflores.

The place where the fair takes place is Salazar Park in Mirafloreswhere more than 80 mypes led by women exhibit their high-quality products at special prices ranging from 15 soles.
