Pronatel: More than 1 million Peruvians benefit from internet broadband

The National Telecommunications Program (Pronatel), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), reported that in the last three years S / 1 million 136 thousand 402 Peruvians from rural areas of the country accessed connectivity.

There are 23 projects that are in three different phases: six in operation and maintenance, 12 in execution and five soon to be commissioned from Proinversión.

In the case of projects that are in the operation and maintenance phase, there is a deployment of 23,289 kilometers of fiber optics. Of these, 4,514 public institutions have free internet access between schools, police stations and health establishments.

On the other hand, the six projects that are in the operation and maintenance phase are those of Apurímac, Cusco, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Lambayeque and Lima provinces and they help 1 million 104,687 citizens of 2,011 rural localities. 106 police stations, 1,157 health establishments and 2,389 schools that access the free internet service benefit from these.

The projects found in execution phase They are Tacna, San Martín, Puno, Pasco, Junín, Ica, Huánuco, Arequipa, Ancash, Amazonas, Moquegua and La Libertad, which allows to bring temporary connectivity to 31,715 citizens in 444 rural locations.

On the five projects, whose promotion process Proinversión is about to be commissioned and it will benefit 725,278 citizens, these are the Cajamarca Regional Project, Manseriche Project, Napo-Putumayo Project, Piura Regional Project and Tumbes Regional Project.
