The Government, through the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), has announced that the rental bonus of S/500 for emergencies (BAE) will be granted preventively to families living in risk areas due to the El Niño phenomenon, with The objective is for them to relocate and move voluntarily to a safe area..

“We have made an adjustment to the rule, so that this bonus that was previously delivered post-emergency, today will be delivered preventively. It is a bonus of 500 soles that is given for up to two years so that families (settled in risk areas), who wish to do so, can rent a safe place to live,” explained Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, minister of the MVCS.

In that sense, the owner asked the mayors to declare unsafe areas as areas of non-mitigatable risk in order to recognize and expedite the process for the emergency leasing bonus at the national level.

Bonus Saving Lives Announced

Minister Pérez de Cuéllar also announced that the bonus has been created as part of the strategy “Saving lives“so that the Low-income families who are in areas of non-mitigable risk are relocated to safe spaces.

This will amount to S/ 120,000 in Lima, and in the provinces, the amount allocated will be S/ 85,000 so that citizens, through real estate projects, can acquire protected housing.

In detail, he specified that currently in Lima there are 107 families and in Piura 250 families that have taken advantage of this benefit and have signed a commitment to leave their homes to move to safe environments.
