The Ecuadorian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce is promoting the ratification of the trade agreement with the Asian giant in a legislative capacity and for this purpose is establishing contacts with representatives of the various political groups that make up the new National Assembly, which will be installed this Friday, November 17.
These contacts occur after the Constitutional Court approved the text of the trade agreement between Ecuador and China. Now the National Assembly will analyze the agreement in order to ratify it so that it can enter into force.
The Constitutional Court has approved a trade agreement between Ecuador and China and is asking the executive to send it to the National Assembly as soon as it takes office
The intention is to present the members of the assembly with information about the benefits of the trade agreement for the country. The most important of all is “the right access to current and potential supply for export in better conditions in the market of 1.4 billion consumers, with high purchasing power”, emphasizes the president of the Chamber, Gustavo Cáceres.
According to Cáceres, the implementation of the agreement will also promote the creation of jobs and the revitalization of the national economy. In 2022, trade between the two countries will reach approximately 12 billion dollars.
These are the products that most drive trade between China and Ecuador
And in order to promote exports and imports, the Chamber is organizing Expo China 2023, both in Guayaquil and Quito.
It is a multi-sector fair that will be held from November 23 to 25 at the Guayaquil Convention Center, and from November 29 to 30 at the Quito Metropolitan Convention Center. This event was supported by representatives of the governments of China and Ecuador, according to a press release from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Ecuador.
The agreement with China excludes almost 800 highly sensitive products; and includes reductions with terms of up to 20 years for medium sensitive sectors
“The goal is to offer tools to entrepreneurs in one place so that they can buy or sell from and to China. They will find experts who will know the steps for their products to reach this giant Asian market,” said Cáceres.
