The Minister of Economy, Alex Contrerasreiterated this morning his support for the seventh AFP withdrawal promoted by Congress, but maintained that it should be focused on people who do not have work.
In dialogue with Exitosa, the head of the MEF said he hopes that a consensus is reached with Parliament so as not to affect the reform process. At this time, there are four proposals to renew the pension system, including that of the Executive.
“Initially, the MEF’s position was zero withdrawals. So, if there is a legitimate concern that there is a group of people who are not having a good time, that should be restricted, that withdrawal should be limited so that neither sustainability is affected of the system or the pension reform,” he clarified.
In this sense, Contreras stated that a new withdrawal of 4 UITs would lethally violate the system, “since there would be no savings left.” For this reason, he considered that it should be directed only to those who “do not generate income.”
“The proposal, as it stands, allows even congressmen and managers of companies that earn very well and have a surplus to withdraw,” the minister noted.
