The Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contrerasconfirmed this morning that the Governments of Canada and the Netherlands have shown interest in the execution of the third stage of Chavimochic.

“They are countries that have a lot of experience in water projects,” highlighted the highest authority of the MEF in an interview on National Radio. However, he highlighted that these proposals have not yet been defined.

“The deadline to define it is until the end of November, if we receive those offers they will be evaluated and assigned in February, if not, we will start with construction (as public works),” he stressed.

The execution of Chavimochic III is currently planned to be carried out under the government-to-government modality; However, the Executive recently announced, as part of the United Plan, that if construction is not achieved under this modality, it would be carried out as a public work with direct award. The Minister of Economy stressed that there are sufficient resources to finance the work.

The investment cost of Chavimochic III is S/209 million and will allow expanding the levels of agricultural production and productivity of 144,000 hectares of land in La Libertad.
