6 out of 10 online shoppers spend up to S/750 per month

Electronic commerce in Peru is constantly growing, to the point that the number of online buyers has tripled in recent years, going from 6 million in 2019 to 20 million in 2023. In addition, it is expected that this industry invoice a little more than US$20,000 million, as revealed by Jaime Montenegro, leader of the Digital Transformation Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).

“Expectations for a rebound in e-commerce sales for 2023 are focused on this last quarter. With the impact generated by events such as the Cyber ​​Days campaigns and the Christmas campaign, a high volume of online sales is expected. Consumers throughout the country will be waiting to make their purchases, taking advantage of the discounts and benefits that businesses will provide,” said Montenegro during the presentation of the study on the behavior of online purchases in Peru, as a prelude to the Cyber ​​Days 2023.

How much do Peruvians spend on online shopping?

According to the latest evaluation on the behavior of online purchases in Peru, carried out by the CCL Digital Transformation Center, 61.90% of online buyers spend up to S/750 per month.

In detail, 21.30% spend less than S/250; 21.10% invest between S/250 to S/500; and 19.50% disburse from S/500 to S/750 monthly. Meanwhile, 19.30% have a monthly ticket from S/750 to S/1,000; while 18.80% decide to spend more than S/1,000 per month.

Regarding the reasons why they decide to make the purchase online, most people affirm that it is due to the prices and special promotions that exist in Internetas well as the greater number of products found online, even more than in a physical store.

The favorite categories for Peruvian online buyers are technologywhich continues to be positioned as the most searched (54.10%), followed by home (50.70%), fashion and accessories (50.10%), trips (39.00%), beauty and health (35.90%), entertainment (25.20%), sports and fitness (18.70%), among many others.
