The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) signed on Saturday an agreement for the transfer of resources with the Regional Government of Moquegua, for S/100 million, to partially finance four projects in the region.
According to the MEF, lThe operation consists of an internal debt that the regional government will take on for the indicated amount, an amount that will be reimbursed to the Public Treasury with the resources that Moquegua receives for the concept of Canyon in the following years. The return that will be made by Moquegua Regional Government YoIt will start in January 2025 and will run until July 2033.
“The population must see the benefits that mining brings. This advance of the canon is the reflection that, with coordination between the different levels of government and on the basis of social consensus, we can, from the mining canon, improve the quality of life of the population,” said the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras Miranda.

The projects that will be financed by the operation are the following:
- Improvement of the IT and Technological capabilities of primary and secondary education students in public educational institutions in the Moquegua region: S/20 million.
- Construction of the Lloque District Departmental Road Network (San Cristóbal de Torata CP-Huarina CP), Matalaque district, General Sánchez Cerro province, Moquegua region: S/12 million.
- Improvement of the Technological Higher Education Service of the IESTP Luis E. Valcárcel, district of Ilo, province of Ilo-department of Moquegua: S/56 million.
- Improvement and Expansion of the Educational Service of the IE Amparo Baluarte, in the district of Moquegua, province of Mariscal Nieto-department of Moquegua: S/12 million.
