Merchants expect a 50% drop in sales for Halloween

For this Halloween, many merchants maintain an uncertain outlook, and expect to sell only half of their merchandise.

Among the reasons behind the negative trend are the problems that sellers are having in managing imports, the delays of up to 45 days in obtaining authorizations from Digesa, the increase in ambulatory trade and the state of emergency decrees in several districts that will not allow late-night gatherings.

“Added to this is the slowdown and reduction in sales in the retail sector.which are factors that give us an expectation of little development for this campaign,” he told La República.

Little commercial flow

Lidia Ramírez (58), owner of a store in Mesa Redonda, reported that the movement remains slow compared to 2022.

Thus, wholesale sales of themed products have been reduced, and the flow of buyers has decreased.

“The situation is increasingly difficult, people are without budget due to recession”, he indicated to this medium.

For his part, Iler Culicondor (45), another seller in the area, also recorded losses, but maintains hope of a rebound for October 31, when citizens usually make last-minute purchases.

For Gladys Mancilla (53), another merchant, the little movement is due to the fact that many families prefer to save their expenses for December festivities, such as Christmas and New Year.

By October 31, it is estimated that Peruvians will spend approximately S/60, according to the vice president of the commercial emporium.

A team from La República found that children’s costumes vary from S/28 to S/45, depending on the size and theme of the costumes. The most popular are those from Merlina, Mario Bros. and Skibidi Toilet.

Similarly, Movie character masks can be found at a minimum of S/10 per unit, and wholesale the cost drops to S/7. The orange pumpkins for sweets have a value of S/24 per dozen and S/10 per large unit.

The decorations for parties packages of balloons are at S/15, while the cobwebs to stick on the walls are at S/5 and the La Catrina headbands are at S/17.
