The export of alcoholic beverages between January and last August exceeded US$7,774,000. In that sense, pisco was the most important, adding US$4,559,000 and representing 58.6% of the total, reported the Agro-export Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX).
According to the president of the Pisco & Other Alcoholic Beverages Committee of the union, Carmen Robatty de Moquillaza, the international market also requested brandy (US$1 million 444,000), rum (US$1 million 128,000) and wine (US$642,038), which They achieved participations of 18.6%, 14.5% and 8.3%, respectively.
Robatty highlighted the importance of promoting the national offer, especially on festive dates such as Creole Song Day, Halloween and very soon Christmas and New Year. “Wineries and companies develop several strategies in order to strengthen themselves and continue diversifying their product portfolio,” he said.
He explained that several wineries promote wine tourism, visits to wine-growing areas to learn about the history and production process of wines; and alliances with other companies to promote tasting and pairing (accompaniment with desserts and dishes of delicious Peruvian cuisine) to reach more consumers looking to live new experiences.
The United States is the main destination for Peruvian pisco
As of August, Peruvian pisco was most requested in United States (US$1 million 487,000) with a concentration of 33% of total exports. Other destinations were Spain (US$492,366), Belgium (US$431,096), the Netherlands (US$420,240) and France (US$246,969), according to figures from the ADEX Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System.
Shipments of spirits, above all, went to Chile, which ranked 1st with a share of 97.1%. Colombia, the United States, France and Aruba also requested it, although in a minimal way.
ANDRegarding rum, the Netherlands (US$402,663) became the leading market with a concentration of 37% of the total. Others that occupied the top 5 positions were Colombia, Ecuador, the United States and Chile.
Shipments of Peruvian wine, between January and August, amounted to US$642,038 and its most important destination was the United States, with a 61% share. Likewise, France, the United Kingdom, Japan and Spain stood out for their FOB amount.
