Ica grape will arrive in Europe in 21 days starting November 9

The shipping company MSC announced a new direct call at the Port of Pisco, located in Ica (capital of Peruvian grapes), as part of its NWC-US-SAWC (North West Continent – USA – South America West Coast) service.

According to the shipping line itself, the proximity of the port of Pisco to the table grape farms will save time and preserve the quality of the product from origin to destination.

The first ship to call, the “MSC Romane”, NX344R, is expected to arrive at the port of Pisco on November 9. MSC detailed that it will provide a weekly service that will connect Pisco with the United States by transshipment in Panama and northern Europe directly throughout the season.

The Association of Table Grape Producers of Peru (Provid) highlighted that, with this new service, companies will be able to harvest the grapes and on the same day enter them into their packing plant and ship them, from the packing area to the port, in less of two hours.

Provid reported that, until the 2022/2023 campaign, very little fruit was exported through Pisco, and almost all the fruit had to travel 350 kilometers to reach Lima and enter the Port of Callao.

According to the information collected by the Agraria.pe portal, arrivals will take place on Thursdays and will last throughout the season until February 2024, but it is expected that the campaign can be extended throughout the year. This is subject to there being a greater exportable supply.

It should be noted that the port of Paita (located in Piura, the second table grape exporting region in Peru) does have competitive services from shipping companies that arrive with adequate transit times to Europe and the United States.
