Budget execution of the El Niño phenomenon does not even reach 16%

To address the climate emergency caused by the El Niño phenomenon (FEN), the Executive Branch has allocated a total of S/4,116 million distributed across the three levels of Government. In detail, the national government has resources of S/3,371 million, of which only S/479 million 208,415 have been accrued, which is equivalent to 14.2% of the total. While of the S/402 million derived to the regional governments, only S/38 million 209,095 (9.5% of the total) have been executed. Meanwhile, the municipalities have an advance of 38.7% of their budget, with S/132 million 886,634 invested of the S/343 million 217,398 allocated.

The sector with the largest budget for emergency prevention is agriculture and irrigation with S/1,195 million; However, its execution level as of October 11 is 9.5% (S/112 million 941,711).

For the economist Armando Mendoza this result is worrying, since the Central Reserve Bank has warned that agriculture will have a crisis not seen in more than two decades, which is why it is urgent to spend the resources that are allocated.

“It is worrying, because we come from the drought, the rise in prices, the Yaku cyclone, and Velarde himself has said that agriculture is going to face the worst crisis in decades, but even so, less than 10% has been executed,” he lamented. the expert.

By regional government, GORE Piura is the one with the most resources, with S/108 million; but it shows an execution level of 5.1% (S/5 million 532,495). Meanwhile, Lima has an advance of 0.4% (S/370,735) despite being the second region with the largest budget (S/89 million 544,427). Furthermore, Puno (S/2 million 706,812) and Moquegua (S/581,828) have not spent a single sol of the allocated money.
