The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Alex Contrerasacknowledged this Tuesday, October 10, that The Peruvian economy is going through a difficult time, which makes its reactivation difficult.
“The macroeconomic scenario has become complicated. The numbers for August and September do not show a recovery and, in that sense, it is essential to continue influencing the recovery of confidence,” he commented during his presentation at the Congressional Budget Commission.
Likewise, he said that currently businessmen are regaining confidence, but this has not yet materialized. “There is some progress in terms of PPP (public-private partnership), in terms of investment announcements; therefore, it is essential to continue working together,” he stressed.
In addition, he pointed out that, in the medium term, the MEF is committed to promoting large projects such as the port HUB. “We have already sent a supplementary credit project that incorporates an initial budget of S / 18 million to define the (urban development) strategy,” he mentioned.
He also indicated that his office is making progress in promoting the naval industry. “More than S/500 million of budget has already been allocated. What we want is to guarantee that a foreign investor comes to build a shipyard in Peru,” he concluded.
