The collection of September 2023 reached S/11,055 million of Tax Revenue of the Central Government net of tax refunds, 18.70% less than the same month last year. The result is explained by the lower dynamics of economic activity, the adjustments of the payment coefficients for the calculation of the Income Tax (IR) and the balances in favor of taxpayers, according to the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat).
It was also specified that the extraordinary payments received in September reached a total amount of S/109 million, mainly as a result of the control actions carried out by Sunat. However, the amount is lower than the S/201 million registered in the same month of the previous year.
Income Tax Collection would continue to decline until the end of the year
In September, S/3,932 million were collected for this concept, which represents a decrease of 14.3% compared to the same month of 2022. The contraction in monthly payments on account, which has been registered since April, is due to the reduction of the coefficients used for its calculation – in comparison to those used the previous year – as well as to the use of the largest balances in favor declared by taxpayers. These factors will continue to affect collection in the remaining months of the year, Sunat specified.
In detail, the decrease was mainly due to lower payments on account of the Third Category, both of the General Regime (-17.8%) and the MYPE Tax Regime (-10.8%), the Second Category (-13.1% ), Fourth Category (-9.1%), Fifth Category (-4.1%), Non-domiciled income (-28.0%), Other Income (-35.5%), First Category (-2. 0%) and the Special Income Regime (-6.6%). On the contrary, increases were recorded in payments for Regularization (38.9%).
Regarding the collection of General Sales Tax (IGV), S/6,878 million was reached, which represents a decrease of 16.9% compared to the same month of 2022, mainly reflecting the lower domestic demand and the lower international price of gas. The collection of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) reached S/772 million, which represents a decrease of 12.8%.
The collection associated with “Other income” amounted to S/1,199 million, amount lower by 12.8% and which is explained by the lower payments corresponding to the Special Tax on Mining (-95.5%), to the Others category (-11.2%), lSubdivisions (-10.3%), Casinos and Slot Machines (-12.3%), the Financial Transaction Tax – ITF (-5.5%) and the Single Simplified Regime (-5.7%). In contrast, growth was recorded in Income such as Collection (44.0%), Fines (29.5%) and the Temporary Tax on Net Assets – ITAN (3.0%).
Finally, the tax refunds made during the month of September amounted to S/1,873 million, an amount that represented a growth of 8.8% compared to the same month in 2022.
