Capatur: Paracas would exceed 500,000 tourist visits this 2021

The president of the Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade of Paracas (Capatur), Eduardo Jáuregui, estimated that, this year, the Paracas spa would exceed 500,000 tourist visits, making it the second most important destination for national and foreign travelers in our country.

The rebound of tourist flow increased during the National Holidays. Most of the visitors were from Lima, who opted for Paracas due to its proximity to the capital, gastronomy and natural beauty.

“Paracas is seen with a large number of visitors to Lima during the weekends (from Friday to Sunday), which averages about 10,000 tourists, and a long holiday has ranged from 30,000 to 50,000 visitors,” he said.

It is expected that the tourism in Paracas is enhanced, Therefore, at the end of 2022, it could have the arrival of 800,000 tourists. However, Jáuregui criticized the little attention given by government authorities to this destination in recent years.

Likewise, the president of Capatur criticized Lima’s centralism promoted by the previous governmental administrations, when tourism develops in the regions. On the other hand, he expressed his intention to promote inclusive tourism and promote social tourism in all regions of the country.

“There must be a youth tourism program with the participation of young people and school tourism, as well as tourism for the elderly and employment tourism. These are aspects of social tourism that are absent from the sector’s agenda ”, he stated.

Works to be done

On the other hand, the president of Capatur expressed his desire to build a convention center, which would demand an investment of US $ 30 million from the Government. This would be used for major national and international business events, such as the Annual Convention of Executives (CADE), of which Paracas has hosted for five consecutive years.

“With the launch of the airport, it meant the presence of some 400,000 tourists a year, but there are no flights. However, its inactivity translates into economic losses amounting to 40 million dollars per year. In the last five years, the economic damage amounts to 200 million dollars ”, he revealed.
