For the fifth consecutive year, Ecuador will be part of the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC), one of the main entrepreneurship competitions in the world. In each edition, the competition gathers around 370,000 entrepreneurs from more than 200 countries. The goal of this tournament is to identify startups high potential to help them in the process of scaling their business.

Since 2019, Ecuador has been part of the EWC thanks to KrugerLabs, KrugerCorp’s innovation accelerator, and the support of the Global Entrepeneurship Network (GEN) Ecuador.

According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, Ecuador is one of the countries with the highest rates of entrepreneurship: every third adult is in the process of or has started a business. In this sense, EWC 2023 appears as an ideal space for highlighting ideas and business proposals generated throughout the national territory and access to opportunities, tools and resources for growth.

Juan Esteban Dousdebés, manager of KrugerLabs, recalled that in 2022 the EWC gathered more than 350 startups great influence. “We are passionate about promoting the development of the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in Ecuador. We hope for a larger number of participants in this new edition”, he pointed out.

The call will be open until October 29, 2023 via the link: https://www.krugerlabs.com/ewc/. The grand finale will take place on November 14 at the Shakespeare Theater at the University of San Francisco de Quito (USFQ).

Before selecting the finalists, KrugerLabs will conduct several masterclass virtual and events networking, to train participants in topics such as identification of business models, financial structure, investment plan and projections and development of ideas i bias winner.

The winners of this edition will have the opportunity to compete in the EWC World Finals, together with prominent entrepreneurs from different countries. This event will take place in 2024.

As of 2019, KrugerLabs has awarded more than $500,000 in cash and in-kind prizes to winners of various editions of the competition, according to the same company.

Startup: launching business ideas using technology

Personal and virtual events motivated the participation of more than 1,500 public opinion leaders, investors and strategic actors, as well as 40 organizations from the country’s entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. These indicators allowed Ecuador to be nominated by GEN for the best global campaign in 2022.

Ernesto Kruger, executive director of KrugerCorp, believes that Ecuador currently has an important place on the world map of innovation, and the idea is positioned that no one does business like Ecuador. “The importance of the country, at the level of the entire region, and even at the international level, in the field of entrepreneurship was highlighted,” he assured.
