On the occasion of the arrival of the festivities of Christmas Y New Year, hundreds of citizens have already planned their trip to various tourist attractions within the Peru or also abroad. That is why, in the face of any eventuality that may arise, many people do not know how to act or do not have clear information about it.
Faced with this problem that is repeated every year, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition for the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), through the campaign #ChristmasSafe2021, seeks to sensitize the population about the importance of generating responsible consumption and staying informed before making a purchase.
In this sense, whether you travel by bus or plane, Indecopi recommends the following:
To the consumer:
- You have the right to endorse (transfer) or postpone your tickets in any type of transport (air, land, river) within the national territory and without any restriction. To do this, you only have to complete the procedure no less than 24 hours before your trip.
- Your ticket must specify the seat number, as well as the information of the insurance company that provides the Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (SOAT) or the respective Traffic Accident Certificate (CAT).
- You have the right to demand a ticket for the luggage that you will transport in the hold.
- In case of theft or loss of your luggage, you must claim immediately. If you transport valuables, Indecopi suggests informing the company in advance.
- If there is any delay in the departure of the bus or plane, you have the right to inform yourself about the reasons, as well as the estimated waiting time.
- In the case of air transport, you must be assisted with food, lodging and communication with your family members, according to the length of the delay.
To the service provider:
- Companies are required to display the price list so that passengers can make informed purchasing decisions.
- Comply with the established departure times.
- Have the complaints book available to its clients, so that it can be used in case it is considered to present a claim or complaint.
- It is forbidden for the land transport company to pick up passengers en route or at unauthorized stops, in order not to expose the safety of the passengers.
- In the event of an accident, the company must immediately activate the respective SOAT or CAT, in the same way, provide assistance to the possible injured and inform the family members.
- If the roads are blocked for any reason, companies should not sell tickets until the roads are released.
