ELA considers LAB’s resignation to the general strike “incomprehensible”: “We must continue to press”

The union’s general secretary has been very critical of both LAB and EH Bildu, whom he has accused of “assuming PNV positions.”

The general secretary of ELA, False Lakuntza, considers “incomprehensible” the resignation of LAB to the general strike. In your opinion, “it’s a mistake give up that possibility when there are such important issues at stake, such as the priority of the Basque agreements over those of the State. We must continue to insist and press for the repeal of the labor reform. “

In an interview with the “Boulevard” program on Radio Euskadi, Lakuntza was very critical of both the LAB union and eh Bildu, in reference to his abstention from the Basque budget. The general secretary of ELA has accused the sovereignist coalition of “assuming positions” of the jeltzales. “This is a triumph for the PNV, and for ELA this will not go unnoticed,” he warned.

The union leader has denied that his central is “hypercritical” as Arnaldo Otegi reproached him last week, and has denounced that EH Bildu “is trying to sell something that cannot be sold in terms of the left, since its valuation is not it corresponds to objective data: its contribution to the accounts does not even reach 1% (…) It is bad news, it turns its back on ELA and many other organizations in this country “. In his words, “the left in this country has to play another role.”

In that sense, he has defended that the union “has a political opinion.” “They ask us many times why we do not present ourselves to the elections, and ELA will present itself to the elections, to the unions, and you win”, he stressed.

Questioned by how he sees the Osakidetza situation and of Primary Care, the general secretary of ELA believes that it is “evident” that it is “saturated”. This situation contrasts, in his opinion, “with the null effort that the Basque Government is going to make” to reverse this situation. “We see that the line to follow is to invest as little as possible in these areas, in essential and structural services such as Osakidetza,” he denounced.

Similar situation observed in the residences of the CAV, with work stoppages called in Bizkaia and with the Gipuzkoa workers on strike. According to Lakuntza, “the workers have a feeling of abandonment by the institutions that do nothing to improve their structural situation, that they fail, and that have very obvious deficiencies. They ask very basic questions and they will not be silent.”
