Ministry of Housing granted good pro for water and sanitation project in Puno

The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) reported that it has granted the good pro for the execution of the water and sanitation project in the Puno district of Coata. The work will benefit nearly 4,000 inhabitants of said jurisdiction.

This was announced by the head of the sector, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, during a working visit to Puno, where he held a meeting with the provincial mayor, Javier Ponce, and councilors of this commune.

Minister Pérez de Cuéllar highlighted that the project was paralyzed for several years and that it has been unblocked in its management, thanks to the coordinated work with the district municipality.

The project, carried out by the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR) of the MVCS, will benefit the population centers of Carata, Llachahui, Queatta, Pojsin, Putucuni, Candile Chinche, Lluco MD and Coatasi. The work includes the construction of a drinking water treatment plant (PTAP), pumping cisterns, reservoirs and basic sanitation units (UBS).

They guarantee continuity of the Titicaca WWTP

He reported that The MVCS decided to terminate the contract with the Operadora Ecológica del Titicaca SAC (OPETI), concessionaire of the project, due to non-compliance with the company’s contract. and in order to defend the interests of the State and all the people of Puno to have a quality service and protect Lake Titicaca.

He also pointed out that the MVCS transferred S/9 million to the Municipal Basic Sanitation Company of Puno – Emsapuno SA, to carry out maintenance work on the sludge in Lake Titicaca and in this way the service is optimized.

“There will be a new call for the entire comprehensive project, (which includes) not only Puno, but also other provinces, (so that) it can be executed in an articulated manner,” he stated.

They install technical table

The head of the MVCS in the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Puno, together with the regional governor, Richard Hancco Soncco and with the presence of provincial and district mayors, also installed the fifth regional work table where personnel from their sector provide technical assistance for unblocking and acceleration of water, sanitation, housing and urban improvement projects.

Minister Pérez de Cuéllar stressed that the Government and its sector work hard to close social gaps and asked the Puno authorities to work together in order to pay off the historical debt that the State has with this highland region.

“We are working and we will continue working with technical rigor (…) Governor, mayors, I ask that we work together with this idea of ​​putting the citizens, our brothers of Puno, the most vulnerable, in our minds and in our hearts to work for them,” he emphasized.
