If you are looking to advance the moment of your retirement, you have to read this note. It turns out that since 2021 Law 31332 came into force, which establishes 50 years as the minimum age for men and women affiliated with the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) to access the Early Retirement Regime (REJA). Below, find out the requirements and all the details to request this benefit. Pay attention!

Early Retirement: what is it and what are its modalities?

Law 31332, published in August 2021, standardized the age to access early retirement in the Private Pension System. In this way, AFP members can request the withdrawal of up to 95.5% of their fund or request their pension before turning 65. In the event that the first of them is chosen, the remaining 4.5% will remain for coverage for the benefits provided by EsSalud.

Early Retirement: what are the requirements?

According to the rule established by the Special Early Retirement Regime, to access the benefits of this modality you must meet the following requirements:

Due to unemployment:

  • Be 50 years old as the minimum age at the time of requesting early retirement.
  • Be at least 12 months without working formally.
  • Submit an affidavit to prove your unemployment status.
  • Prove through a document the date that certifies the termination.

By ordinary modality:

  • At the time of requesting this benefit, you must be at least 50 years old.
  • Have a pension calculated in the Private Pension System that must be equal to or greater than 40% of the average remuneration received and income declared during the last 120 months.
  • Voluntary contributions for pension purposes or without pension purpose that exceed 20% of the individual capitalization account of mandatory contributions with a stay of less than nine months in the CIC are not considered.

Early Retirement: how to access it?

If you want to know if you apply for early retirement, you must validate your situation with the AFP to which you are affiliated. To do this, you can contact the following numbers:

  • For AFP Habitat: Call 230-2200 (Lima) or 0801-14224 (provinces).
  • For Prima AFP: Call 615-7272 – option 1 (Lima) or 0801-18010 (provinces).
  • For AFP Integra: Call 513-5050 (Lima) or 0800-40110 (provinces).
  • For Profuturo: Call 215-2828 (Lima) or 0800-11434 (provinces).

After making the respective queries, you must request early retirement on the AFP website to which you belong, through these steps:

  • Enter your request with your ID and date of birth. Choose the early unemployment retirement procedure and fill out the information requested in the form.
  • Choose the bank of your choice to receive your pension or withdraw your funds.
  • Request the quote to find out the amounts offered by the AFP and insurance companies.
  • Review all the information and choose the pension type that interests you.
