They support Petroperú’s return to Talara lots

Five Petroperú union organizations have expressed, through a statement, their support for Perupetro’s decision to return lots I, VI and Z-69 to the state company, in the face of the furious campaign against it initiated by the private sector.

Likewise, they regretted that former presidents of the company have joined in opposition to the state company operating the Talara lots as part of its strategic plan to achieve vertical integration, which will allow it to have a sustainable and effective activity over time.

“In the management of Lanatta Wallsin the year 2019-2021, destroyed Petroperú, losing the market in the sale of fuel of 40,000 barrels per day, which fell by 32%, giving facilities to wholesalers and others,” the unions signed.

They added that, if the state oil company were allowed to compete on equal terms with private companies, profits of more than US$3 billion a year would be obtained, as President Dina Boluarte highlighted in February in Talara.

Although there are legislators in Congress who are in favor of business unions, there are also those who publicly support the decision of the Executive Branch.

Such is the case of Isabel Cortez (CD) and Margot Palacios (PL). The latter has indicated that the lots in charge of Petroperú “will allow us to achieve the energy security of a approximate production of 20,000 barrels daily, for the energy sustainability that the country requires, and to be able to bring fuel to the entire national territory.”

For its part, Maria Antonieta Aguerofrom the same bench, has withdrawn its signature from the motion of censure that is being promoted against the Minister of Energy and Mines, Oscar Vera Gargurevichfor alleged “moral incapacity”, after expressing his support for Petroperú.

The key

Preparations. A meeting was called for today between Perupetro, Petroperú and Sapet – current operator of Lot VI – to coordinate and begin the technical transfer of the lot given the proximity of the contract’s expiration.
