Which meant a decline of 0.23% compared to Tuesday’s close when it was quoted at S/3.7100, according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP). So far this year the currency has accumulated a variation of -2.55%.

At 9.50 am the US currency in the parallel market was located at S/3.68 for the purchase and S/3.71 for the sale. While the reference exchange rate in the banking market reached S/3,657 for purchases and S/3,743 for sales in the Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP).

At the international level, the index of dollar maintained slight gains, after US economic data showed inflation picked up in August, although underlying inflation pressures increased modestly and could give the Federal Reserve (FED) a cushion to keep interest rates unchanged at its meeting next week, according to Reuters.

The consumer price index rose 0.6% last month, the biggest gain since June 2022, the Labor Department said amid a rise in gasoline prices. Excluding the volatile food and energy components, the CPI rose 0.3% as prices for used cars and trucks fell.
