During the last six months, although with a lower intensity compared to other periods, the prices of most fuels have experienced significant increases in Metropolitan Lima.
Between March 1 and September 8, wholesale fuel prices increased by more than S/2 per gallon. Regular and premium gasoline led this increase by rising by S/2.17, reaching S/18.21 and S/21.95 per gallon, respectively, according to PetroperĂș.
The 84 octane gasoline increased by S/1.76 and reached S/16.73 per gallon. As for regular and premium gasoholes, they had an increase of S/1.84 and S/1.81, respectively, standing at S/20.23 and S/21.37 per gallon.
In this same period, 84 octane gasohol reached S/16.45. Meanwhile he Diesel B5 UV S50the fuel with the highest demand in the country, fell S/1.69 up to S/14.36 per gallon. The same thing happened in LPG of vehicular use, which decreased by S/0.50 and reached S/2.60 per kg. However, these latter fuels are within the Price Stabilization Fund, but the variations do not always reach the final consumer.
Rise is seen in taps
On the other hand, fuel prices at service stations also achieved an increase of up to S/1.1 per gallon between August 8 and September 6.
Regular gasohol went from S/16.95 to S/18.05 on average at taps in the capital. While premium gasohol it reached S/19.6 After rising S/0.98 and gasohol of 84 rose S/0.48 to S/17.73. While the Diesel B5 UV S50 reached S/16.64 after increasing S/0.70 per gallon.
Vehicular LPG was sold between S/6.50 and S/11.98 per gallon.
Upside factors
The former director of Hydrocarbons, Gustavo Navarro, affirms that the variation in fuels is related to the international price of crude oil, which in recent months went from US$60 to US$80 a barrel.
He noted that seasonal demand is influenced by the greater use of fuels in the northern hemisphere, mainly gasoline. He adds that another factor is the exchange rate. However, he expects prices to begin to fall at the end of this month or at the beginning of October.
For its part, Osinergmin specified that in the case of LPG, the variation is a product of speculation.
