Electronic commerce: what trends will prevail in 2022?

Electronic commerce has shown constant changes with respect to trends in the midst of a rapidly evolving competitive environment. However, with the pandemic, the digital transformation of the companies in the field.

In this context, Impulse, a full-commerce and inbound marketing company, shares seven trends in online sales that will become relevant during 2022.

Quick-commerce: Some companies specializing in grocery and food focus on making their deliveries in less than an hour. And in order to meet that delivery time, some firms are implementing various ‘dark-stores’ in Peru. Today there are five brands that are betting on it. Among them are OrdersYa, Rappi, Jork, among others.

Augmented reality: Although this resource is used in some industries in Peru, only two organizations use it in retail: Ripley and Platanitos. For next year, various retailers and marketplaces will implement augmented reality in some of their product catalogs.

Live streaming: This year the first initiatives related to purchases were made through live transmission. Currently, there are eight companies in Peru that have already used live streaming on their platform such as: Ripley, Falabella, Plaza Vea, among others. And that in 2022 many other electronic businesses will apply this new trend.

full commerce: is an omnichannel strategy that is responsible for integrating all the services that a business needs to operate in the digital world. In this sense, it is responsible from the creation of the store, catalog management and advertising optimization, to carrying out the operation, managing the content and serving the customer. This allows the brand to focus on its business, product, and offline expansion, leaving the entire day-to-day operation in the hands of an expert.

Cross-border: cross-border e-commerce represents 23% of online sales in Peru. Although, before, purchases of this type were made on Amazon, Alibaba and other global ecommerce, currently two local platforms enable this type of shopping, such as Linio and Ripley, where you can find international catalogs. And in 2022, more marketplaces will enable this type of shopping in Peru as Mercado Libre.
